Creating quality content
About me
Hi, I’m Karen. 👋
I turn complex product features into clear, intuitive user experiences.
I’m a content strategy and UX leader who believes content is part of the product, not the finishing touch. I design the systems behind great experiences, from information architecture, content governance, and messaging frameworks to user journeys, navigation models, and AI-powered workflows.
Over the past 10+ years, I’ve led content design for global platforms at Meta, the Advanced Placement (AP) program at College Board, and Macmillan, helping millions of people discover information, complete critical tasks, and engage with products more effectively. Whether I'm defining a content vision, shaping a product roadmap, or refining the language in a single interaction, my focus is always the same: reducing friction and helping people move forward with confidence.
I’m known for connecting the dots across product, design, research, engineering, and business teams. I can zoom out to see the broader ecosystem, zoom in on the details that matter, and build the frameworks that help organizations scale clarity over time.
If you're building products that value clarity, strategy, and human-centered design, I'd love to connect.
I'm currently open to new opportunities.
Case studies
Meta fundraising tools
I drove content design and UX strategy for Facebook and Instagram to help nonprofits maximize fundraising during Giving Season. Tactics included story-based giving nudges on Instagram, updated nonprofit onboarding flows, and targeted donor reminders on Facebook, contributing to $280M raised through these channels.
Meta Content Library
I led the evolution of Meta Content Library following launch, improving how researchers discover, access, and analyze public content across Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp. The work balanced regulatory transparency requirements with researcher needs, resulting in sustained user satisfaction above 75%.
Meta AI data collection
I shaped the end-to-end user experience for Meta Viewpoints programs supporting AI product improvement, helping users discover, understand, and participate in data collection initiatives. The program created transparent, compliant participation experiences that attracted 1,000+ participants within 24 hours of launch.
AP Classroom redesign
I shaped the content strategy and information architecture for a redesign of AP Classroom, reorganizing around teachers’ workflows rather than internal product structures. Guided by educator research, the redesign centralized assignments and reporting, simplified resource discovery, and reduced complexity to make key tasks easier.
Personalized dashboards
I drove the creation of My AP, a personalized dashboard that unified AP’s fragmented tools into a single, role-based experience for students and educators. This centralized hub surfaced timely content, key actions, and critical deadlines, improving navigation, reducing cognitive load, and earning satisfaction scores of 4.5 (out of 5).
AP digital exams
I led the communications strategy and UX design for AP’s rapid transition to digital testing during COVID-19. Through clear guidance, readiness tools, and coordinated communications across AP platforms, I supported the successful delivery of nearly 5 million digital AP exams to 2.6+ million students worldwide.
